SERIOUS SIMULATIONS WINS TRACKING SUBCONTRACT FOR THE U.S. ARMY’S VIRTUAL CLEARANCE TRAINING SYSTEM (VCTS)

ORLANDO, Florida, USA – Serious Simulations LLC announced today that it has begun work for FAAC Incorporated, the prime contractor for the U.S. Army’s Virtual Clearance Training System (VCTS). The subcontract was awarded as part of an overall upgrade package to the Army’s VCTS program being executed by FAAC. The VCTS program is administered by the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEOSTRI).

Serious Simulations will provide a unique gun tracking solution to the fleet of simulators in the VCTS program. Specifically, the company developed a Zero Drift Machine Gun tracking system to enable machine gunnery tasks to be executed with extremely high degrees of accuracy and zero drift (drift is an issue whereby the virtual machine gun begins to move itself, or “drift”, virtually, without any physical movement or stimulus, necessitating recalibrations during training. The drift issue is not uncommon in simulators, and is propagated by a variety of sensor technologies and environmental conditions).

“We were glad to provide the Army with a solid solution for a vexing problem, so that soldiers will be uninterrupted by simulator drift issues and can be more fully immersed in their combat training”, said Christopher Chambers, a former Army officer and CEO of Serious Simulations. “In this project, we also decided to track deflection and elevation of the gun mount, rather than the gun itself, thereby making weapon change-outs realistic and simple, with no impact on tracking sensors.”

Serious Simulations prides itself on innovative solutions oriented on improving realism in simulators. In addition to its new machine gun tracking device, the young company has spent nearly two years since its incorporation building a large portfolio of innovations and inventions for individual and group simulation. The company created several cutting edge technologies and applications for its first product, an Infantry simulation system branded ready2trainTM. It currently holds a portfolio of five patents in simulation and Virtual Reality technologies. Two patents were filed in the last year in the vital area of zero latency wireless video transmission for Virtual and Augmented Reality displays, intended for both professional training and entertainment applications. The patented wireless devices are already being embedded in the HMDs of four manufacturers, in the few months since their debut.

SERIOUS SIMULATIONS BEGINS WORK FOR THE U.S. ARMY RESEARCH LABORATORY IN AUGMENTED REALITY TRAINING SYSTEMS

ORLANDO, Florida, USA – Serious Simulations LLC announced today that it has begun work for the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, Simulation and Training Technology Center (US ARL STTC) and University of Central Florida’s Institute for Simulation and Training (UCF IST) in Orlando Florida. The one year contract specifies a number of tasks in support of on-going work in developing realistic next generation augmented reality training systems for individual soldiers.

Serious Simulations will bring to the project some unique capabilities in the areas of wireless data transmission, remote data sensing of weapon functions, electronic hardware design, and the use of real weapons in simulators. The contract with US ARL STTC and UCF IST represents the first opportunity the company has had to work officially with both organizations.

“We are really proud and excited to be working with the Army and the University to embed next generation capabilities into individual and small group training” said Christopher Chambers, CEO of Serious Simulations. “This particular project utilizes our experience in a number of areas including mechanical data sensing, fast data transmission, and using real or training weapons for training in Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality simulators.”

Serious Simulations has spent nearly two years since its incorporation building a number of intellectual property holdings for Individual simulation. The company invented or innovated several cutting edge technologies into its first product, an Infantry simulation system branded ready2trainTM. It currently holds a portfolio of five patents in simulation and Virtual Reality technologies. ORLANDO-BASED SERIOUS SIMULATIONS SELECTED TO PRESENT AT ‘VETERANS BUSINESS BATTLE’ IN HOUSTON

ORLANDO-BASED SERIOUS SIMULATIONS SELECTED TO PRESENT AT ‘VETERANS BUSINESS BATTLE’ IN HOUSTON

Orlando, Fla. — Serious Simulations LLC in Orlando was recently selected to present their business before 100+ investors in the “Veterans Business Battle” in Houston.

Sponsored by the Entrepreneur’s Organization of Houston (EO Houston), Rice University, local banks and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Veterans Business Battle screened more than 130 veteran-owned startup companies from across the country to select a small group to showcase their ventures. Serious Simulations was one of only 16 businesses that made the cut, according to CEO Christopher M. Chambers.

“We were very pleased to be selected as one of the few companies making a presentation in person, and were the only company at the event involved in simulation training and virtual reality,” Chambers reported.

Serious Simulations LLC develops human motion based, virtual reality training systems for professional trainers focused on complex or dangerous military, law enforcement, emergency response, and commercial or industrial tasks. They recently patented new wireless video processes for their own head mounted displays that also have wide application virtual reality displays for use in consumer and commercial markets.

The company designs and assembles training systems using custom made hardware and software components for specific skill training needs, combined with motion tracking systems, wireless communications devices, display technologies and commercial game engines.

Serious Simulations is a client company of the University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program located at Central Florida Research Park in East Orange County.
