ATS Miniature Edge Computer
Powerful Rail Mounted Miniature Firearm Computer/Camera to Support Augmented and Virtual Reality Training and Real World Operations
The ATS (Armament Technology System Mini Computer) is a miniature weapon mounted computer. It runs Debian Linux or Windows IoT Core. The computer has many design potential applications that contribute greatly to the goals of digital soldier training.
ATS Skin (ATS miniature computer integrated with data sensing weapon skin)
ATS is the weapon mounted core of an indoor/outdoor, AR/VR tactical processor which enables sensing of accurate tracking data onboard (position and orientation), significant on-board data processing capability, and wireless or wired communications.
Edge computing capabilities give ATS the ability to process data from onboard sensors at speeds that are 9x that of the fastest current VR systems and do not saturate wireless communication links. No external computer is required.
The ATS is also designed to run machine learning onboard. The platforms computing power is sufficient to enable it to concurrently run computer vision, SLAM for GPS denied position/navigation, machine learning, and sensor fusion algorithms. Algorithms performing firearm activity recognition can be executed in parallel with sensor data including shot counting and firearm health monitoring programs.
ATS can communicate and process data from Weapon Skins®, Biometric feedback devices, Laser Range finders, Chronometers, Chem/Bio sensors, Body motion sensors, Brain monitors, microphones and more.
Adding camera modules and visual data processing modules at ATS allows for performing object recognition and object tracking for Automatic Target Recognition (ATR), and onboard inside-out tracking for use with AR/VR/HUD headsets.
When coupled with weapon skins and a host computer wirelessly, the ATS system can support wireless VR/AR headsets to provide a very compact weapon-based package.
Users have control of the ATS and can load/update new programs easily.

Rugged Packaging – ATS can be embedded in the rigged weapon skin for rifles and machine guns or can be Pic rail mounted for all guns in high impact aluminum casing. Thermal dissipation, shock proofing, and environmental barrier protecting the computer is attained by custom molding of Dow Corning Thermally Conductive Elastomer 3-6551. This recent elastomer is designed specifically for heat dissipation and shock protection for electronics and is used in aerospace, space, and industrial applications.
